Homestay Oxford aims to provide a truly professional service that will ensure that all our guests enjoy a really enjoyable stay with us in Oxford. We have many years of experience of conducting homestay in Oxford and all our guests have had excellent experiences. Check here for more information on what to expect at our homestay. Below are the Terms and Conditions for staying with us.
Homestay Arrangements
The normal homestay is from weekend to weekend but occasionally other arrangements can be made. If a week is begun but not completed for any reason then it is considered a full week. To make enquiries about availability of the homestay use the Enquiry form.
There are five homestay options described below. Options 2, 3 and 4 include all the facilities of Option 1.
Option 1: Homestay
This includes continental breakfast and an evening meal eaten with us. You will enjoy comfortable accommodation, a welcoming atmosphere, free access to the internet (using our terminal or wireless connection), use of the kitchen (at reasonable times for coffee making and use of refrigerator) and other parts of the house including the garden. You will also be given a general introduction to the area.
A television is provided with Freeview (a service with around 20 channels). Washing is undertaken periodically and the bed linen changed once per week. Ironing facilities are available on request. For the comfort of everybody, the house has a very strict no smoking policy that includes the garden.
The homestay will include some accompanied visits, for example, to familiarise you with the locality (Headington centre) as well as at least one half day visit to Oxford City centre. In the summer if the weather is suitable you will be taken on a punting trip.
Option 2: Homestay with Tourism/Culture
You will have all the facilities listed in Option 1 plus you will have lots of guidance about tourism including two escorted half day trips to Oxford. Also we will spend about one hour per day discussing tourist, historical and cultural issues so providing more information about the places you will visit, even in London, for your understanding and enjoyment.
Option 3: Homestay with English
|
Option 4: Homestay with Study at a local Oxford College
You stay at Homestay Oxford and take lessons at a local college. You would also have the option of taking individual one-to-one lessons at Homestay Oxford - then you would have the experience of sharing classes with other learners while also having the benefit of personal individual tuition.
Option 5: Bed and Breakfast Accommodation
You can arrange a short stay at Homestay Oxford on a bed and breakfast (B & B) basis. The breakfast is continental style. For an extra fee you can join us for dinner. The minimum stay is three nights.
Booking
There are three stages in the booking process:
1 An agreement of the arrangement between you and Homestay Oxford: the dates, number of hours of English tuition/cultural studies (if that option is chosen), number of guests in the party.
2 Creating a booking by paying the deposit of £150.
3 Payment of the balance of fees due at least four weeks before the start of the stay.
Payment is normally by bank transfer - we will provide details of our account as part of the booking process. We can also accept cheques drawn on a UK bank.
Cancellation Policy
If you wish to cancel the confirmed booking then the following arrangements shall operate:
Any cancellation notice must be by email.
If received within 10 days of the receipt of the deposit, a full refund (less the bank costs in making the refund)
If received more than four weeks before the start of the stay, a full refund will be made except for the deposit.
If received less than four weeks before the start of the stay, a 50% refund will be made.
Fees cannot be reimbursed if you arrive late or depart early for any reason.
The fee for each option does not include transportation from the airports to Homestay Oxford, personal or property insurance, food and refreshment taken outside the home, entrance fees for visits to galleries, theatres and cinemas or public transport.
Airports
There are frequent buses from the main London airports, Heathrow and Gatwick to Oxford. The other two London airports Luton and Stansted are more difficult for access. We will happily meet your bus from the airport, free of charge, and bring you to Homestay Oxford - there is a bus stop near our house (you need a phone that can make calls in UK).
IHowever, if you want us to meet you at one of the airports we will gladly do so but a fee is payable (£60 one-way Heathrow, £75 one way Gatwick, £90 Stansted, £70 Luton, £75 Birmingham). If you wish us to take you to the airport at the end of your stay the same fee will be payable.
Insurance
It is important that you take out your own insurance in your own country to cover against cancellation and such factors as ill health, injury and loss/damage to your personal property. Homestay Oxford cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to your property during your stay.
