Fairly close to Oxford can be found some beautiful country houses and gardens. They are well worth a visit.
One such is Sulgrave Manor. This is the ancestral home of the Washingtons, with its links to the famous George Washington and British involvement in early American history. Another is Waddesdon Manor.
Fairly close to Oxford, but only accesible by car, can be found Waterperry Gardens. A similar distance north can be found Blenheim Palace, the Malborough House with Churchill connections.
A short car ride away can be found the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens which have a large collection of animals not native to Oxford, such as, lions. For further information on Oxfordshire’s wildlife check here.
Fairly easy to visit by train is the Didcot Railway Centre which on some occasions has trips on steam trains.
